New Wexford Bus Park & Ride from The Beehive
Wexford Bus is delighted to announce that a new Park and Ride service is operating from the Beehive in Co. Wicklow. Passengers travelling on the 740A Wexford Bus service that operates between Arklow, Wicklow and Dublin City & Airport up to 9 times daily can now avail of free parking at the Beehive.
Wexford Bus worked with the Wicklow Town Team on how to improve the daily commuting options for residents of the Wicklow area who travel to work or study in Dublin, the Park & Ride came from this collaboration. Mr O’Reilly Hyland of The Beehive has kindly agreed to facilitate the programme by opening up the carpark of the Beehive Pub at Junction 18 on the M11. Motorists will be able to park at The Beehive and then avail of coach services provided by Wexford Bus.
Commenting on the announcement, Brendan Crowley Managing Director of Wexford Bus said “We are always looking at ways to enhance the service that we offer and are delighted that The Beehive are so generously facilitating the people of Wicklow by offering this park and ride. With journey times from The Beehive to UCD of less than one hour the 740A is an ideal way for students and commuters to travel and we are confident that this will be well received by our passengers.”
Enda Luddy, Wicklow Town Team, commented “We are delighted that this project has come to fruition. Wexford Bus has been operating the 740A service for over a year now and with the start of another academic year upon us we feel the timing of this new Park & Ride facility at The Beehive is ideal for Wicklow Town.”
Those living around Arklow Town, The Beehive, Wicklow Town & Rathnew are already availing of the great service provided by Wexford Bus on the 740A route, so this new addition will be welcomed. What’s more, third level students attending UCD, Trinity, DCU and the city centre based IT’s all have a frequent bus timetable which will make commuting even easier.
The 740A Route operates up to nine daily services in each direction. Services start in Gorey and then serve Arklow Town, Jack Whites Cross, Ballincor, The Beehive, Wicklow Town and Rathnew bringing passengers from South Wicklow to UCD, Dublin City and Dublin Airport. Adult Day Return from The Beehive or Wicklow to Dublin City is €15.50 or €65 for a 10 journey weekly ticket. A Student Monthly Return from The Beehive or Wicklow to Dublin City is €13.00 or €42 for a 10 journey Leap student weekly ticket. Tax Saver Tickets are also available. All Wexford Bus coaches are Wi-Fi enabled and accept Leap Cards and Department of Social Protection Travel Passes. For full details of the timetables and fares see www.wexfordbus.com.
